Just about 2

As the little ticker at the top of this site shows...Jack's quickly approaching two. I thought seeing him turn a year older would make me a little sad, but truly, it hasn't at all. Why? Because I love the little person he's becoming. He's as happy as can be and such a busy body as he continues to discover his surroundings. Now, he truly understands a lot of the things we say to him. He understands instructions quite well (when he wants to-- sometimes, he flashes his displeasure with a particular direction and blatently ingores us-- but his facial expressions show even then, he understands what we're telling him :).

So, just what is Jack like right now? He's a social kid, who loves to play with his older cousins, Calvin and Cameron. He adores older children and seems to really enjoy trying to learn from their behavior. He's flexing his athletic ability-- throwing balls like a champ. We're working on catching, but that's gonna take a little work. He's just about figured out how to climb out of his crib, although he rarely tries to do it. Its hard to sound like a doting parent, but I think he's pretty coordinated.

As for favorite foods, there are only a few. He used to eat just about anything...but lately, has become a tad bit picky. He still really likes homemade pizza, chicken (but not too breaded, more like grilled), cheese and crackers, applesauce and yogurt. He still loves goldfish crackers, pumpkin bread and bananna nut cherrios.

Trains are a big hit with him. We have a Thomas the Train table that was given to us by one of my friends. He loves to play with it. We're slowly building his collection. He's also very into Happyland Village toys. They're little houses and buildings that form a village with figures and furniture. He has the Goosefeather Farm and loves it-- we love the fact that these toys promote imaginative play. We're building his village piece by piece, adding to the set with his birthday and Christmas presents.

He's still super close with our dog, Boomer. They're buds-- and its really cute to watch them interact. Jack doesn't let him beg at his highchair anymore. He used to be totally amused by Boomer's interest in his food, now-- not so much. He shakes his finger at him and shouts "No-No-No," which used to be "Mo-Mo-Mo," but his speech has improved :)

We're looking forward to another year of fun. I wonder what it will entail :)
