The best gifts can't be wrapped

So, Christmas is just about here. Tomorrow, we are heading down to Dayton and then to Columbus, so tonight we had our own little Christmas...just Mike, Jack, Boomer and me.

Its amazing how a little kid can inspire such holiday magic. I found myself having such a heightened spirit of the season. We listened to more Christmas music, we decorated the house much more than we ever did and just seemed to appreciate the holiday more than we have in awhile. There's just something about a little kid that reminds you what the best gifts are in life: Family and the support created by those close to us. That's what Christmas is all about...sometimes I think we inadvertantly can get caught up in all the other elements of the holidays (the hustle, the stressing about wrapping and getting ready, the dinners, the parties etc). Jack has reminded us of what the best gifts are.

The irony of this is that Jack, the one who I attribute our increased excitement for Christmas, truly has no idea what is going on around him. He's not sure what all the fuss is about, but does seem to like the lights and new toys that have come his way. Amazingly, he likes to look at the Christmas tree, but hasn't tried to knock it down...at least not this year.

Here are some photos of our little Christmas here at the house. You'll notice that Boomer did a much better job unwrapping his gifts than little guy. Maybe next year, the pup will teach Jack some new tricks!
